Welcome to Philly Garden Swap
Welcome to Philly Garden Swap. Our system is officially up and running. Please login, create a profile and make post. If you wish to upload a photograph of a plant you wish to share with someone else or request, please limit the image to 800 x 600. Many digital cameras have higher resolution than the website can handle. Please modify your images accordingly in order to post them successfully. Also, if you would like for your garden to be featured on our website, please email us photographs in jpeg format, including your name and neighborhood. We will not disclose your home address.
The picture below was taken on November 9, 2008, at our community swap across from the Weaver's Way Co-op in Mount Airy. Dozens of people donated houseplants, iris, hosta, seeds of all varieties, elephant ear bulbs, shrubs, ornamental grasses, sidum and other temperate succulents. Many more people took what they wanted. As a result of the November 9th swap, three spirea bushes were donated to Ned Wolf Park on Ellet Street, as a part of our Stone Soup Garden Initiative and the generosity of the owner who donated the shrubs which she believed were too large for her yard.
We will be sponsoring more community swaps, beginning in May of 2009. If you would like for us to bring a swap to your community, send us an e-mail. We are eager to partner with other community groups and organizations. Also, if you have plants and shrubs that you would like to donate and need assistance with their removal, please contact us. We would be happy to come to your home and remove them for you. Remember plants and shrubs need to be thinned out for their long term health. It is also good to help others beautify their homes for free in this difficult economic environment. We look forward to seeing at our next community swap and online. If you have further questions about Phillygardenswap or would like to volunteer, send us an e-mail.
